Club 8 cordially invites you to attend the Annual Pilgrimage to the Rostrum Angophora Tree
BYO BBQ;
Plus: the inaugural Soapbox Speaking Competition*;
Plus: some lusty singing of the Rostrum Song.
Please note: The date for the Angophora Tree Gathering this year has been consciously chosen to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the first Rostrum Club meeting in Tasmania on 4 March 1947.
It will be the first of a number of 60th anniversary celebrations to be held throughout the state during the year.
Please feel free to contact me if you require any further information. I look forward to making your acquaintance.
With kind regards
Sharon Massie
President, Rostrum Club No.8

N.B.
- Topics will be of contestant’s own choosing.
- Speakers will be expected to persuade the audience to support their belief or cause.
- Interjections, heckling, or an indifferent audience are characteristic of this style of speaking.
- Speakers will be limited to 5 minutes
(possibly less, if the ‘field’ is huge).
