Rostrum Voice of Youth 2022

 

Rostrum's Student Development Program for Secondary School Students.

Rostrum Voice of Youth is a national speaking competition which provides an excellent opportunity for secondary school students to gain experience and confidence in expressing their views and communicating a message.

Competition Details

Juniors

The competition is divided into Junior and Senior Divisions.  

Junior Division

A prepared speech: 6 minutes - JUNIORS (aged 11 years as at 1/1/22 and in years 7, 8 or 9)

Junior Prepared Topics: Junior students are to select one topic from the following list.

  1. BLUE SKIES
  2. START A CONVERSATION
  3. THIS TIME IT WILL BE DIFFERENT
  4. WAIT AND SEE
  5. CELEBRATION

Senior Division

A prepared speech: 8 minutes – SENIORS (under 18 as at 1/1/22 and in years 10,11 or 12)seniors

Senior Prepared Topics: Senior students are to select one topic from the following list.

  1. ERROR OF JUDGEMENT
  2. CONNECTION TO COUNTRY
  3. SPOILT FOR CHOICE
  4. THE LESSON THAT I LEARNT
  5. CHANGING THE NARRATIVE

You start at State Level

Each state (except for Queensland and Western Australia) runs its own sets of heats and finals.

The Northern Territory will participate with South Australia and ACT students will participate with New South Wales.

A three minute short notice speech (with 15 minutes preparation) will definitely be included at State and National levels and at earlier levels in some states. Please visit your state page for more details.

Voice of Youth Honour Roll

BrisbaneFinalists are entered in the Honour Roll.

Apply to join the Rostrum Voice of Youth facebook group - the group name is RVOY Past and Present - and follow Rostrum Voice of Youth on Facebook.

Rostrum members are all volunteers and not only organise the competition but are active in the roles of adjudication and chairmanship. Because of the size of the competition, Rostrum also receives assistance from other community organisations.

COVID

sydneyRostrum’s ability to complete all levels of the competition will depend on Health Advice and Government Regulations.

Every attempt will be made to take the competition through to National Final level in Sydney on July 30th. Should this not be possible the Zone Finals will be videoed to determine the National winners.
