Gil Lee Archer Competition

The 2024 Gil Lee-Archer Trophy Competition will be held at 6:30pm on Monday 15 July in the Boyd Room, First Floor, Carnegie Library Building (7 Shepparson Ave, Carnegie). It will once again be a face to face competition only.

We ask all clubs in the Eastern Region to consider nominating one or two representatives to compete in this year’s competition. We will need each club to nominate its representative (if any) by return email by Friday 21 June please. We just need a name, contact details and the prepared speech topic (see the 6 topics below).

The competition involves three sections: a 3 minute reading, a 3 minute short notice speech and a 10 minute speech.

Remember that the winner and runner-up of the prepared speech component will go on to represent the Eastern Region in the Jo Davis Cup final, which will be held on Saturday 7 September 2024. Members can just enter the Prepared Speech section on 15 July if they wish, but of course, they would then not be competing for the Gil Lee Archer Trophy.

I look forward to your reply.

Kind Regards

Rob Ellison

Eastern Region Convenor

Speech topics:

Over a cup of coffee

My true North

The rules of the game
