The standard at the National Competition was extremely high and Banuka Ralapanawa from The Rockhampton Grammar School and Anisa Nandaula from Runcorn State High School represented Queensland with distinction.

State Final

Some of the statistical highlights:

- Number of Qld entrants - 665 (up from 485 last year)
- Number of Qld schools - 138 (Government Schools, 64 and Non Government Schools, 74)
- Number of Juniors - 398
- Number of Seniors - 267
- Over 40 first round heats held across Queensland

Special thanks go to the Rostrum clubs which fund-raised to cover costs especially for the regional areas. Thanks to Katrina Van De Ven for organising the very successful Trivia Night. Many thanks also to Steve Minnikin MP who arranged for us to use the Parliamentary Annexe and who eloquently addressed us at the State Final Dinner.
