Celebrating club 26's 900th meeting

About Club 26

Hear a short 10-minute radio interview about “Rostrum Club 26 - the Early Morning Club for People who are Going Places”. Community Radio Station Coast FM 88.7 recently interviewed Club 26 member Helen Bowen and Membership Manager Bob Pearce about the benefits of joining Rostrum and the energy, fun and learning that can be found at a Rostrum Club 26 meeting.

20190702 DSC 3414Rostrum Club 26 is a city centre based, early morning speaking club designed to build confidence and enhance oral presentation skills. Our club offers an ideal and convenient format for city based professionals, employees in government or private business, secondary or tertiary students, overseas students or persons with English as a second language as well as retirees, with a common desire to develop and build confidence in oral presentation and committee procedures.

We spend a short time dealing with business and learning how to participate in and manage a meeting. This is under the guidance of an experienced and trained senior member who chairs the meeting. The majority of our meeting time is devoted to various speaking exercises including different types of speeches, readings both prepared and at times impromptu. Member's presentations can be flexible to assist in making particular types of speeches, for example, a speech (by a Best Man) at a wedding or a work or study specific presentation.

Our Club has an experienced Coach who gives constructive feedback at the end of each meeting so that our members can improve their presentation delivery and structure.20190521 DSC 2819

Rostrum Club 26 members are friendly and supportive. We learn a great deal from each other as well as developing skills in an enjoyable and non competitive environment. Our membership consists of a good mix of female and male members with varied work backgrounds and interests and varied experiences in an oral presentation to learn from. Our meetings are characterised by variety, interest, fun and humour. Why not visit us! Be inspired, find out new things and laugh a lot. It's a great way to start the day!

Club 26 enjoys having visitors who are welcome to sit back & enjoy the speeches with no commitment (although they may participate if they wish).

Fees are very affordable - $95 per annum or $65.00 for tertiary student (fees are adjusted for depending at what time of year a member joins) No previous public speaking experience is required before you join. New members receive at no extra cost a 'resource kit' valued at $60.00.

Please contact us if you wish to visit one of our meetings, so that you can be met in the foyer and introduced to the meeting.
